Updates on Projects Implementation and Progress
The invested efforts by FAO in Iraq ever since 1990 but especially following to the 2003 crisis, assisted to sustain, rehabilitate and develop the Iraq Agriculture and Water Resources sectors. In addition to the capacity building and advocacy initiatives, FAO has accomplished and is currently implementing several projects in the various Agriculture sub-sectors in Iraq.
As the mandated agency, FAO has been the lead under the UNCT for the Agriculture working groups: Agriculture and Food Security Outcome Team. Thus and under the general auspices of UNAMI , FAO has been coordinating with the various related sister agencies as well as other Sector Working Groups to complement efforts for the maximum impact of interventions. For the purpose, FAO has developed and is currently implementing joint programmes with other UN agencies implemented in the various sectors.
